Mechanical Piping Engineer

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.

Vacancies currently exist for a Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join the Project.

In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:

  • Setting the example for others by exhibiting the MEI&C culture with all involved including the MEI&C Contractor, eg. Excellence, Accountability and Enthusiasm.
  • Building and maintaining the relationship with all others including the MEI&C Contractor.
  • Provide clarification of technical aspects related to SOW and Engineering design.
  • Provide clarification of technical aspects related to Engineering Specifications/Standards.
  • Pursue opportunities to improve MEI&C execution for best-for-project results, e.g. develop concepts to reduce construction hours on BWI.
  • Review of Contractor deliverables to mitigate risks for KJVG, eg. Drawings for Pre-Assembly.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills and self motivated.
  • Can coordinate between and influence different parties, ranging from engineering and other service type providers to contractors and vendors.
  • Design experience with relevant Mechanical and Piping standards e.g. ASME VIII, AS1210, AS1657, API 650, API 617, ASME 16.5, ASME 31.3, AS 2885.
  • Experienced in site/field construction and pre-commissioning aspects of execution, preferably in an LNG and Power environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Have a good understanding of the multi-discipline aspects of engineering and construction (preferably in EPCM environment) and be able to use this in resolving issues.
  • Experience with the management of Claims.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and is willing to work on an “all hands on deck” basis when required.
