Civil & Concrete Inspector

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.

Vacancies currently exist for a Civil & Concrete Inspector to join the Project.

In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:

Job Description:

  • Substantial experience in routine surveillance of Civil & concreting activities.
  • Inspection of works in progress to ensure compliance with project specified requirements.
  • Ensure effective implementation of ITPs & FIC’s by the Contractor and Client attendance at Witness and Hold points.
  • Regular review of quality records and Test Lab Reports.
  • Monitor concrete test regimes at testing laboratories.
  • Ensure timely mark-up of As-built drawings and monitoring progressive compilation of MDR in line with MDR index.
  • Ensure timely resolution and follow-up of NCR’s & CR’s.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years hands on experience dealing with concreting activities on major construction projects
  • Experience in the installation of concrete X-blocks and large concrete caissons in a marine environment.
  • Working knowledge of international codes and Australian standards related to pre-fabricated concrete structures, and the installation of large concrete pads suitable for LNG Tanks and other large modules.
  • Good understanding of QA/QC requirements for final documentation on oil & gas related construction projects.
  • Experience with underground services.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proactive approach to resolving quality issues.
  • Basic computing skills and working knowledge of MS Office Word/Excel.
  • Formal safety training.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Previous experience of working on LNG projects.

This role will be based at Barrow Island and offers a 20 day / 10 day rotation.
