Welding Inspector (PRF2215)
The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.
The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.
Vacancies currently exist for a Welding Inspector to join the Project.
In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:
- Reports to the respective area Quality Lead via the QC surveillance coordinator
- Inspection of works in progress to ensure compliance with project specified requirements.
- Monitoring contractors welding and their welding processes, including review of their WPQR, WPS & Welder Qualifications.
- Ensure effective implementation of ITPs by the Contractor and attendance at Company/Client Witness and Hold points.
- Monitoring contractors welding consumables storage & traceability, including their NDE records and weld mapping.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience as a welding inspector on major construction projects
- Experience in large LNG Tank construction, and Oil &Gas load-out jetties and/or offshore marine structures.
- Minimum certification; CSWIP 3.1 welding inspector / WTIA AS 1796 certificate No 10 / WTIA AS 2214
- Interpretation & implementation of codes, standards i.e. AS, API, ASME, AWS.
- Good understanding of QA/QC requirements for final documentation on oil & gas related construction projects.
- Module hook ups, Structural and Piping.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Proactive approach to resolving welding quality issues.
- Basic computing skills and working knowledge of MS Office Word/Excel.
- Formal safety training.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Previous experience of working on LNG projects.
This role will be based at Barrow Island and offers a 20 day / 10 day rotation.
