Senior HES Advisor – Construction (PRF2034)
The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.
The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.
Vacancies currently exist for a Senior HES Advisor – Construction to join the Project.
In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:
- The HES Advisor - Construction is a specialist member of the BWI LNG construction team and must possess the skills to provide H&S tactical leadership and direction to Contractor LNG H&S construction team.
- The role is the H&S focal point for H&S matters including general construction safety with particular emphasis on construction activities. This includes the provision of specialist and technical H&S advice and guidance and ensures Construction operations are carried out safely and effectively.

The position may require nightshift work; the general responsibilities include working closely with the site contractor in order to provide a positive H&S influence. Specific responsibilities include:

Civil construction
- Erection and working at Height
- Scaffold inspection and certification
- Lifting operations
- PTW audits
- Supporting BWI Hazard Intervention Program
- Incident/Injury Prevention
- Liaising with Emergency Response teams
- Liaising with Incident Management teams
- Supporting the award and recognition program
- Incident investigation and Root Cause analysis
- Performing Loss Prevention Inspections

Civil construction
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Senior HES level position with broad technical and HES skills with in-depth working knowledge of Construction operations
- Experience in construction projects is essential
- Technical competence in occupational safety, risk assessment; and HES management systems.
- 15+ years broad-based experience preferred, with prior experience in one or more HES-related disciplines with 10+ years in a HES lead role
- Leadership by example: recognizes, develops and enhances the potential of the workforce to achieve flawless execution.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and persuasive
- Effective coaching: understands performance expectations and is effective in communicating these to the work force and motivating them to achieve results.
- Possesses initiative to independently manage a diverse workload.
- Strong communication skills: capability to effectively interact with individuals of all levels
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management or similar
- HES Lead Auditor
- Certified Loss Control Specialist
This role will be based at Barrow Island and offers a 20 day / 10 day rotation.
