Senior HES Advisor – Risk Management

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.

Vacancies currently exist for a Senior HES Advisor – Risk Management to join the Project.

In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:

  • The Senior HES Advisor – Risk Management is a key member of the project team and a central figure within the HESQ function, reporting to the Field HESQ Support Manager.
  • Must possess the engineering skills to provide HESQ support to Client, Contractors and their subcontractors
  • Provide technical HESQ advice to Contracts and Procurement functions and Field HESQ team on Barrow Island
  • Must possess broad green field construction experience in major capital LNG projects including Contract Evaluation and assessment prior to contract award
  • Will perform HAZID assessments and bid evaluations and will audit contractors during site mobilisation, identifying the activities and processes that have the potential to harm life and assets.
  • Will be able to maintain, update and manage Safeguard (web database) for Contractor access.
  • A key feature of the role is the ability to routinely delivery high performance results in a demanding work environment, to ensure that an effective coordinated approach is deployed which ensures HESQ activities are contractor aligned where appropriate.
  • The Senior HES Advisor – Risk Management must possess extensive experience and is technically competent (subject matter expert) in Constructability review; LNG Commissioning and start-up activities; HAZID Facilitation – acting as an intermediary between company and client in getting each contract awarded to the HAZID workshop stage; RISK Assessment; Heat stress program; HESQ Audit program

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering industry experience across all facets of Oil and Gas Construction.
  • Senior level position with broad technical and HESQ skills with in-depth knowledge of project management and construction operations.
  • Significant working experience within major capital projects.
  • Significant working experience in systems energization, commissioning and start-up.
  • Technical competence in occupational safety, health, and environmental is preferable but not essential.
  • 10+ years broad-based experience preferred, with prior experience in Construction Engineering.
  • 10+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • A passionate interest with broad background, spanning ten years to the field of risk management and training development.
  • Streamlining of business processes with the intention of developing more significant cost and time saving environments.
  • Able to work to deadlines with a priortisation/professional approach.
  • Risk Assessment to comply with International / Australian / Chevron Standards.
  • Extensive organizational skill: possesses initiative to independently manage a diverse workload of changing priorities and ability to maintain continuity in times of organizational change.
  • Presentation, facilitation, training & presentation delivery experience.
