HSEQ Project Engineer

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.

Vacancies currently exist for a HESQ Project Engineer to join the Project.

In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:

Job Description:

  • The HES Project Engineer is a key member of the project team and a central figure within the HESQ function, reporting directly to the HESQ Technical Support Manager. The HES Project Engineer must possess the HES skills to provide technical support to Client, Contractors and their subcontractors.
  • The HES Project Engineer will provide technical HES advice to Construction HESQ teams on Barrow Island, Coordinate the projects HES Performance Reporting Program including statistical, and trend analysis.
  • The HES Engineer must possess broad project construction experience including Contract evaluation and assessment prior to contract award.
  • The HES Project Engineer will perform HAZID assessments and bid evaluations and will audit contractors during site mobilistion.
  • A key feature of the role is the ability to routinely deliver high performance results in a demanding work environment, to ensure that an effective coordinated approach is deployed which ensures HESQ activities are aligned between were appropriate.
  • The HES Engineer must possess extensive experience and is technically competent (subject matter expert) in the following processes:
    • Constructability review
    • LNG Commissioning and start-up activities
    • HAZID Facilitation
    • Risk Assessment
    • HES Investigation, Reporting, Auditing and HES Trend Analysis

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree
  • Senior level position with broad technical and HES skills with in-depth working knowledge of project management and construction operations
  • Significant working experience in systems energization, commissioning and start-up
  • 7+ years broad-based experience preferred, with prior experience in Construction Engineering
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Leadership by example: recognizes, develops and enhances the potential of the workforce to achieve flawless execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and persuasive
  • Extensive organizational skill: possesses initiative to independently manage a diverse workload of changing priorities and ability to maintain continuity in times of organizational change
  • Ability to assess and act on project resource needs
  • Strong communication skills: capability to effectively interact with individuals of all levels-both internal and external to the company

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Occupational Safety accreditation such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is desired but not essential.
