Structural Superintendent - Trains (PRF2047)

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

Vacancies currently exist for a Structural Superintendent - Trains to join the Project.

In order to be considered for these roles, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:

Job Description:

  • Provide leadership support for safety and accident prevention.
  • Implement safety procedures, subcontractor safety meetings and site inspections
  • Create and maintain an environment in which pursuit of excellence, zero accident, and zero rework is part of the site culture.
  • Monitor performance and productivity for structural steelwork installation work performed by the mechanical contractor and ensure adequate levels of Supervision.
  • Work with the Rigging Superintendant to ensure all lifts are carried out safely and correctly and that the craftsmen have the correct certification and competency level.
  • Produce weekly reports for the general Superintendant
  • Ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Work as an interface between the MEI&C Contractor supervision and the General Superintendent to ensure a one team approach and harmonious working environment.
  • Monitor project schedules, staffing charts, material availability and equipment requirements.
  • Monitor project plans and specifications for constructability, conformance to regulatory agency requirements and productivity improvement.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to staff involved in the development and application of innovative and unique construction theories and methodologies required by multiple and/or complex projects.
  • Review handover / punch lists, carryover works, shipped loose items and disconnects proposed from the module yards. Review the work-scope documentation received from the fabrication yards
  • Review work packs to enable a smooth flow of construction activities on BWI
  • Continually monitor Construction activities and review ways of removing man-hours from BWI
  • Advise the project team of status, issues, impacts, risk, and cost influence factors on the remaining to go scope.
  • Monitor and the implementation of safety orientations, safety indoctrinations and gang box meetings and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Ensure Structural Steel work is complete prior to punching and handing over to the follow on discipline team.
  • Work with other disciplines and provide input into SIMOPs coordination (Simultaneous operations)

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience within the Construction industry, specifically for construction of LNG plants.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication and Installation on large projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with multidiscipline field supervision and contractors; accountable for the successful implementation of the project's construction philosophy and completions programme.
  • Good understanding and able to read Engineering and structural steel drawings
  • Strong track record for delivering project requirements on time with zero safety incidents and accidents.
  • Strong team player with the ability to inspire excellence and join a team to provide a successful completion.
  • Demonstrate record of strong commitment to safety.
  • Strong understanding in construction means and methods on projects within the oil & gas industry.
  • Demonstrate good supervisory skills, mentoring of technical and non-technical personnel whilst on the construction site.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of HSE, procurement, project controls, and work processes.
  • Review JSA, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Knowledgeable with O&G industry construction methods and procedures.
  • Proven record of consistently Meeting Quality, Construction and Schedule goals.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong track record for delivering project requirements on time with zero safety incidents and accidents.
  • Demonstrate record of strong commitment to safety.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of HSE, procurement, project controls, and work processes.

This role will be based at Barrow Island and offers a 20 day / 10 day rotation.
