Telecommunications Superintendent
The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.
The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.
The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.
Vacancies currently exist for a Telecommunications Superintendent to join the Project.

Job Description:
The Telecommunications Superintendent stewards all phases of telecommunications and computer infrastructure. He ensures that the Project's requirements, as detailed in the Technical Specifications, for all telecommunications engineering and computer infrastructure are carried out faithfully, and in a timely fashion. Steward’s telecommunications and computer infrastructure aspects of the Project with other discipline leads on the PMT, as necessary.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Provide supervision for the design implementation, installation and financial/economic management of telecommunication and computing infrastructure and support.
- Provide technical consultation, direction, standards compliance and quality assurance to Company.
- Provide technical direction to contractors on telecommunications & computing requirements.
- Conduct technical review of specifications, plans, drawings and procurement packages for new developments.
- Proactively coordinate Interface requirements between Company and EPCM teams.
- Direct and monitor work activities of contractor and staff on all project activities.
- Quality control installations practice at site, and ensure project schedule is maintained.
- Provide mentoring and promote knowledge, judgment, and project management skills for less senior staff participating on projects.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Just have strong project management skills (design, implementation, personnel planning and management, economic analysis/evaluation skills), and ability to proactively monitor and correct problems within a very complex development environment.

Strong organization, team building, leadership, project planning, and communication skills. Very current knowledge of telecommunications & computing systems and depth of understanding and analysis skills necessary to make accurate and effective design decisions in very complex situations:
- WANs (Carrier services, Satellite, Microwave)
- General Radio Systems
- Voice Systems (PBX, Public Address etc)
- Hazardous area requirements (EXd, EXi, EXe)
- LANs (Wiring, Routers, Switches, Servers etc)
- Must be able to manage multiple, short timeframe, complex projects.
- Must possess the flexibility needed to effectively work and guide other less experienced staff within the group, without compromising results or standards.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience including in a project engineering role in an upstream project or drilling environment.
- Previous history of successful direction of technical personnel.
This role will be based at Barrow Island and offers a 20 day / 10 day rotation.
