Area Construction Manager - General Services

The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project, currently under construction, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and Australia's largest single resource project.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon, an unincorporated joint venture between KBR, JGC Corporation, Hatch and Clough, is the Gorgon Project's downstream engineering, procurement and construction management contractor.

The downstream scope of work for the Project includes the construction of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing trains, LNG storage and load-out facilities including a jetty, utilities, a materials offloading facility, a domestic gas processing plant and a construction village.

The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon is a dynamic global team of around 2,500 people in 17 locations in seven countries. As we move further into the construction phase, we are looking for talented professionals to join our team.

Vacancies currently exist for an Area Construction Manager - General Services to join the Project.

  • In order to be considered for this role, we are looking for the following skills and expertise:
  • Instrumental in the development and implementation of the scope associated with the OSBL Works, assisting with preparation of contractor’s mobilisation plans and subsequent on site management of contractor.
  • Provide leadership support for the safety and accident prevention.
  • Implement safety procedures, subcontractor safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Create and maintain the environment in which pursuit of excellence, zero accident, and zero rework is part of the site culture.
  • Develop work scope and documentation on wide range of multi disciplinary projects.
  • Provide oversight and governance on a ‘cost reimbursable’ type contractor.
  • Monitor and control cost and schedule associated with many small projects.
  • Provide direction to supervisors / engineers to facilitate work completion.
  • Ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to staff involved in the development and application of innovative and unique construction theories and methodologies required by multiple and/or complex projects.
  • Log delays and mitigate causes
  • Advise the project team of status, issues, impacts, risk, and cost influence factors on the remaining to go scope.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Management, in assigned areas, of all field erection and installation supervision including safety, quality, labour relations and productivity, manpower planning, construction equipment planning and usage, coordination of the work of the various crafts, waste management, and adherence to work plans and schedule.
  • Manage the Construction completion and the handover of appropriate quality control documentation and as built mark ups to the Assistant Technical Services Manager.
  • Must be able to operate independently and communicate with management to regularly update progress and confirm direction when needed.
  • Experienced in safety and quality requirements.
  • Able to work amicably in a multi disciplinary company team to obtain assistance in completing work objectives.
  • Demonstrate good supervisory skills, mentoring of technical and non-technical personnel whilst on the construction site.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of HSE, procurement, project controls, and work processes.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Preparation of reports.
  • Strong track record of project delivery.
  • Previous exposure to IIF culture.
  • Demonstrated ‘team player’ operator and attitude.
  • Has the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong track record for delivering project requirements on time with zero safety incidents and accidents.
  • Strong team player with the ability to inspire excellence and join a team to provide a successful completion

This is a site based role offering 20 day / 10 day rotation. The Kellogg Joint Venture Gorgon can offer long-term fixed-term contracts for roles in Perth and on Barrow Island, as well as outstanding career development opportunities.
